Yeah, everyone needs one right? So thanks to the fabulous Margay, I found another way to distract myself from the task at hand. So without further adieu, here is my comic cover-

Ok, it is time for me to get back to work. Later… unless you care to make one of your own and post it to your blog… you can do so by going to The Hero Factory and then just leave your link here in the comments and I will go check it out. ;)

Wild Kingdom?

7:03 pm · category: Just for Fun, Random Rambling

Okay, so ever since my night out on the town with my best friend, I have had this reoccurring scene and dialogue running through my head. As I have children and a husband who isn’t much into the nightlife scene, it was quite interesting to spend a girls night out partaking in activities I’ve always enjoyed, such as dancing and more importantly people watching.

Funny how my mind treated this scenario. There was a guy with us, visiting from out of town, who had decided that on his last night in town he wanted to end his trip with a conquest. Now, as I look back on the events, it is as though I am watching an episode of Wild Kingdom. I now have the pleasure of sharing with you, a little peek into the inner workings of the mind of Moira. Ready? Hold on tight because here we go….

“The mating rituals of humans are quite fascinating and it’s every male for himself. The nightclub is a typical hunting ground where the human male seeks a female to mate with. Let’s watch as this young male stalks his prey.”

He’s cautious. Slow to move. In this ritualistic dance of life only the strongest and fearless will prevail and as our young male tries to work up his courage, another more virile male sweeps in from the left without hesitation, quashing all hopes of mating our young male may have had.

Our young male will live to pursue others, but will he learn from this experience? Only time will tell. This has been Wild Kingdom. Thank you for joining us and good night.”

It is a sad state of affairs when you people watch and your mind relates it to an episode of Wild Kingdom (Which by the way I barely remember ever watching, though I do remember my father being quite fond of the show.) Yes, the inner workings of my mind astound you I’m sure. Now as you either:

a) pick your jaw up off the floor and put your eyes back in their sockets, or
b) are holding your sides from laughter because you too can see where I am coming from

Know that I would like to blame an alcohol induced imagination for this bit of entertainment I have provided for you, but I can not deceive my loyal readers in such a manner. No, this is truly how my mind reflects back on that particular portion of the evening. Yes I am twisted, but then again, you already knew that and have apparently come to terms with it. For that I thank you.

Houston, We Have Cover Art~

Yes! It feels real now. Well actually in felt real when I got my first round of edits and I looked at what the lovely Heidi sent and thought holy shit! (Okay, it wasn’t quite so dramatic. Those of you who know otherwise keep your mouths shut please I have a rep to protect. ;)

About a week ago, I woke up to a wonderful email that included… you got it! Cover art! Now, edits and all that surely send you the wake up call that yes you signed a contract and your story will go to publication, but seeing that first cover with your name on it? Well let’s just say it’s like a MasterCard commercial…

Hours of  time and imagination turned into completed manuscript – $Blood

Submitting your manuscript and waiting – $Sweat

Signing the contract and recieving your first round of edits, which leaves you feeling a bit overwhelmed – $Tears

Seeing your blurb and first cover attached to your name – $Priceless

It doesn’t get much better than that. When you see all that wonderful art thrown together for your manuscript, well it seals the deal and has you ready to go through the whole process all over again. Which is exactly what I am going to do! So for all of you loverly people who have supported me on this endeavor and listened as I grumbled the lyrics of “I suck but I shall overcome.” Thanks. We Shall begin the process all over again and again and – well you get the picture.

Trying to Nail K & D ~

9:15 pm · category: Random Rambling, Writing

Okay seriously get your heads out of the gutter! I mean their characters-or actually, to be more specific, their story. It is, or so I have been told, a very intriguing story. One that I have been threatened time and time again to finish or to suffer the punishment of torture by whip. Serious OUCH! Well, although I may have a slightly warped mind, that truly does not appeal to me…unless I am the one holding that wonderfully empowering piece of braided leather. That’s right rubber duckie-be scared, be very very scared. (No worries mom, if you are reading this, you can rest easy. BDSM is not in my repertoire! Nor do I aspire to be Lady Heather, no matter how awesome she is in CSI.)

Okay, the picture just totally had me peeing my pants. Way off topic but OMG who thought to do that to this poor duckie? I mean did he not let someone top him so this is his punishment?

Moving on, for my mother’s sanity if not my own. (Yes, after all these years I do worry about what my mother thinks. ;) Thank god her sense of humor can be as twisted as my own at times.) There was a point to this post I swear and I will be getting to it right about now.

My paranormal romance story, which currently bears the working title of The Chosen, is sitting around a nice 40k. Not bad, but I want more. To me this is only half completed. During my edits on Buckling Down, I learned a lot. Funny though, as I look back at the beginning of The Chosen and see things that glare at me from the page. Plot holes. Those darn things just creep up on me when I least expect them. I know you’ve heard me complain of them before. But that is the update of my attempts at trying to nail K & D. Yes their names are kept silent to protect the innocent. They need not be tainted as Mr Duckie has been. :D talk to you later.

Thanks for the Inspiration~

Funny how story ideas will strike you at moments when you are immersed in fun activities such as people watching at a cafe prior to a show, or playing tourist in your own home town. I had an idea, not quite sure how to pull it off or where to work it in since I’ve rarely participated in the rich nightlife Las Vegas is known for. As y’all know if you read last Friday, I took my best friend to see Phantom Las Vegas. It was a total blast which lasted well past showtime and into the wee hours of Saturday morning where we finished off our evening here -

Club Rain Las Vegas

Club Rain was a blast! God I hadn’t been dancing in ages and this venue definitely provided me with some ideas to pull off some ideas I had for my latest manuscript. Granted I am putting my own spin on it, but all it ever takes is that tiny seed to be planted and the right amount of water to make it grow. Well Row, thanks for taking me to the club and filling my head with great ideas for my dear Cheyenne, she is much obliged. ;)

Have you ever had ideas come while out on the town, doing something fun, no cares in the world other than living in the moment?  Do tell, I am always fascinated by where people find their inspiration.

Look Out Phantom ~

Here we come! Whoot! Okay, so months ago I decided on this awesome gift for my darling best friend for her birthday and a belated Christmas present. Yes, I know it sounds kinda cheap of me, but many of you may not understand. Going to a show in Vegas, or at least most of the good ones, is likely to break your bank account and this one is no exception. The choice was also a bit self indulgent. I have been dying to see Phantom of the Opera. Broadway would be my preference, however, it would appear that at the rate I am going, even an LA production is not in my immediate future. The Vegas production is supposed to be unbelievable. Well, we shall see as Row and I can be a bit difficult to please when it comes to such things. (We have quite defined ideas on our musical productions ;) ) Here is a little promo to whet your appetite.

Monday’s Shakespeare Moment

6:00 am · category: Inspire, Shakespeare Moment

Sonnt 2 ~ William Shakespeare

When forty winters shall besiege thy brow,
And dig deep trenches in thy beauty’s field,
Thy youth’s proud livery so gazed on now,
Will be a totter’d weed of small worth held:
Then being asked, where all thy beauty lies,
Where all the treasure of thy lusty days;
To say, within thine own deep sunken eyes,
Were an all-eating shame, and thriftless praise.
How much more praise deserv’d thy beauty’s use,
If thou couldst answer ‘This fair child of mine
Shall sum my count, and make my old excuse,’
Proving his beauty by succession thine!
This were to be new made when thou art old,
And see thy blood warm when thou feel’st it cold.

I don’t post these often enough, but I do find Shakespeare inspiring. There is just something about his lyrical prose that speaks to me. Hope you enjoy.

Carpe Diem~

Scale back your long hopes to a short period. While we speak, envious time will have already fled. Seize the day and place no trust in tomorrow. ~ The Odes by Horace

While we all struggle to keep our heads above water as we tread the turbulent seas that are swirling in the financial arena, I believe it is important to embrace these words more now than ever before.  Why put off your dreams in hopes that tomorrow may be a better time to start the chase? It is all too common for us to postpone things and then the tomorrow we wait for never comes.

Each of us has a dream, or we should have, that instantly elicits feelings of excitement or butterflies in our stomachs. One that makes you want to crawl out of bed in the morning, and look at the world with a renewed sense of hope and motivation. My dream has always revolved around using my creative side. My head is forever in the clouds and when I was younger it came out in the form of drawing and writing. Though my dreams have changed or evolved, they have never strayed far from the original. Now I have the joy of pursuing my dream on a daily basis when I sit down and put fingers to keys to pen my manuscripts. Something that started out as a dream and gives me hope every day that all things are possible. This is my proof that I will take to my kids when they tell me of a dream they have and feel is unattainable.

Dreams push us forward, keep us young at heart, nurture our inner child, teach us to love and embrace life, and inspire us to reach farther than we ever thought possible. If you aren’t taking steps to achieving your dream, then I must ask you why? After all, what good is a dream if it is kept a secret never to be pursued? Think about it…. everyone’s dreams deserve a chance at being fulfilled, even yours. So I challenge you to go out and chase the dream, breathe a little life into them, and most importantly seize the day!
