Give A Little More

I heart Alex Levine. He’s just nice eye candy no matter how you slice it. The tats definitely add to the appeal for sure, though you can see them better in other videos. Not a bad way to kick off a week in my opinion. So here we are…the beginning of another week. While I am on a field trip with Zombie twin number two, enjoy a little music courtesy of Maroon 5. More importantly, go out there and tackle your week head on. Oh and don’t forget to give a little more…

FF~ Favorite Non-Writing Hobbies

Yep, it’s that time again. Another round of Friday Five is mine for the taking. And boy am I going to have fun with it this week. Let’s see… my favorite non-writing hobbies. Yes I do consider writing not only a career but a hobby as well. Why? Well because it’s fun. Why are you questioning me?

So what are my favorite hobbies? Well let’s take a peek shall we?

1. Photography- I love taking pictures and I am not very particular on what my subjects are. Do I have a favorite in my arsenal? Of course I do.

2. Drawing. I love the feel of putting pencil to paper period. But creating smooth lines and seeing a picture form from those lines is pure bliss. (Unfortunately, the only piece I have is one that was done for my neice and is a recreation of a Disney print so I will not post due to copyrights and so forth.)

3. I fancy myself a baker when time permits and I make a wicked Baileys Irish Creme Cupcake oh and I’ve even made red velvet cookies which were quite the rave. This is truly an indulgence for me.

4. Reading. Yes you could argue that this related to writing, which it is in a way, but I read because I truly enjoy it. The eReader makes it easier because I can have an unlimited amount of shelf space, however truth be told, I will always buy my absolute favs in hardback if they are available.

5. Movies. Not going to the theater per say, but snuggling up on the couch with my kids and watching something they’d enjoy. Believe it or not, one can never see too much of Shrek if your kids are laughing hysterically beside you.

That’s it folks. My Friday five. Is it coincidence that some of these are yet another creative outlet? No. Honestly, people are creative in their own right. Sometimes we just need to explore different avenues to let ourselves shine. What are your favorite hobbies, and if you are a writer, you must stick to my non-writing related formula. :) Have a great weekend everyone but not before you go visit my fellow Friday Five friends.

Waiting Bites!

I don’t know if any of you have seen this trailer but I am dying!!! This is a definite must see in theaters for me. The biggest part will be hoping it doesn’t disappoint. You know how it goes. Movie trailers are shown, you anticipate the theater arrival, you pay your hard earned cash, and walk out thinking that hour and a half to two hours is time you can’t get back. I am praying this won’t be the case because I am all giddy with excitement. If you haven’t seen the preview… take a peek.

Goodbye 2010!

Yes, it is that time of year when everyone says their goodbyes to the year and welcomes in a new year with resolutions. I for one, will not be making resolutions. Why? They don’t keep. Not in my world. Besides, how motivational is it to start every year with the same resolutions? I for one, am tired of looking back at the year and focusing on the things I didn’t accomplish. As I  visit my friends around the blogging universe, I see that I am not the only one. Do I want to be thinner? Of course. Do I believe the resolution will get me there? Not on your life. After so many years of un-kept resolutions, I think it is high time this girl tosses her resolution habit. How does that New Year’s saying go? Oh yes, out with the old and in with the new.

So to usher in 2011, I am here by making a vow to look at this year with a new fervor. This year will yield great things. I can feel it. Whether those things will happen to me or those close to me, who’s to say. All I know is that they will happen. This is the year of positive thinking people. Careful because I think it’s contagious. Don’t worry. It’s not something that will send you into hiding. You want to catch this bug. I promise it will do us all a bit of good.

To my family, friends, acquaintances, fellow writers, and anyone else who happens to peruse this post, I wish you nothing but the best this year. May your dreams come to fruition, the evil green stuff multiply in your banks, and may you find whatever it is that your heart seeks. For now, I am going to seek the coffee pot. Then I am going to start cleaning up my writing space and sit down to make some real progress. Maybe put away the Christmas tree too while I’m at it. Let’s round this post out with a little music shall we? This is currently a favorite of mine. You have to love a sassy southern girl. Happy New Year!

If You Haven’t Seen It~

This is hilarious. I may be a day late and a dollar short here and am fairly sure this has made the rounds, but it still cracks me up. I saw this for the first time today on The Knight Agency blog after several intense minutes of hovering over their blog and waiting for the clock to roll over to 8am EST (more on that at SBnW). Thought I would share just in case. I think everyone knows someone like this guy. Enjoy. I am off to blog at The Sweet, the Bad, ‘n the Wicked. Stop on over!

Zombie Awareness Month?

Why yes… there really is such a thing. You don’t believe me go to the Zombie Research Society and check it out. That is right ladies and gents! I speak the truth. And to show my support… I am posting a video advertising the Zombie Haiku! Yes, everyone must indulge in haiku, especially when the living dead are involved. This book look hilarious and I plan on checking it out very very soon. Might even make a good gift idea for a fellow zombie lover. :)

To Be Continued~

Those very lovely words were recently typed as I reached the end of book one in my wolf/fae trilogy (or as some people like to call it… the No Furry Faeries Trilogy).  This book has been two years in the making and even though I am now working with my internal editor and preparing myself for some feedback from various sources, I am feeling very pleased with myself.

I think each book is an accomplishment, but I’ll let you in on a little secret. I am very hard on myself when it comes to most things. Paranormal stuff… forget it, I am like a damn lunatic. I have very high standards for myself when I write in this genre because I read it myself in my limited spare time. Since it is my favorite to read, I am obsessively critical of my paranormal stuff.

This is probably true of all of us. Surely we each have little areas where we are more critical of our work or performance in than others. Care to share so I can stop looking over my shoulder for the men in white lab coats?

While I anxiously await your answers, here is a sampling from the unedited version of my book, whose title is remaining under tight wraps for now. It is one among many moments I have a fondness for. This moment takes place after my heroine, Kiara, has a wee bit of a rough day. ~

A drink and the normalcy of humans should have been enough to calm my nerves, or so I tried to convince myself when I pulled the H3 into the parking spot and entered the dimly lit Irish pub.  I should have stayed home, but instead I perched myself on a stool at the bar. So much for my date with Ben and Jerry.

Shock Me Shock Me Shock Me~

With that deviant behavior! One of the best lines from the movie Empire Records.

Okay, really there is reason behind why I even mention that line. As in most cities, you can drive around and see a multitude of fashion statements out there. Piercings decorating the teens at the bus stop or the people at work. (I kid you not) See the bump on girls courtesy of Snookie from Jersey Shore fame, some people can rock it, some can’t. Not everyone is meant to be a Guidette, sorry. Emo fashion in full swing with the dark clothes and skinny jeans (which I don’t get as a fashion statement for guys). It makes me think back to the days when I loved Skater Boys. Oh I was a sucker for almost any guy who hung out at the local skate shop. Oh the point? Right.

So really, I was just thinking about how such behavior and fashion statements make their mark on the books we read and write. I mean, I have a picture of a Emo girl that is destined to star in my first young adult book. So lay it on me people! What deviant types did you lust after? Or do you imagine yourself writing about?Give me all the dirty details.
